Our school is participating in Fire Prevention Week this week! Firefighters have been coming into classrooms to talk about fire safety. Students have learned about the importance of smoke alarms, as well as having a family meeting place in case of an emergency. Thank you so much to the Milford Fire Department for making this possible!
If your family does not have access to working smoke detectors, please reach out to your child's teacher or directly to the fire department.

Today second graders learned about how spiders build their webs. We made some great connections between our lesson and the characters in our read aloud book Charlotte's Web! Students did a great job building their own webs! The webs were then tested for strength, stability and the ability to catch bugs!
Our 5th graders had lots of fun today experimenting with Oobleck! They have been learning about the 3 states of matter and how they change. Students were shocked to see how quickly Oobleck changes from a liquid to a solid and back again. Science is so cool 😎
Boys Soccer Update:
The boys soccer team had an impressive match against the mighty Holbrook last night. Arguably the toughest team we’ve played yet, we managed to keep the scores low and took a proud loss of 5-2. A special appearance from Seth H and a pair of goals from Logan S had the audience and players stoked. You guys should be proud of how well you played last night and how much you’ve grown as a team this year. Next stop, playoffs. The boys will have practice Monday through Thursday next week.

Congratulations to the following students for participating in the Read to Ride Summer Reading Challenge offered by the Maine Department of Education. These kids read 500 or more minutes over the summer.
With Mrs. Curtis are: Cameron, Maya, Madelyn, Stephen, Jaxson, Violet, Corina, Ford, and River. Absent from the photo are Willow, Nevaeh, and Dominic. The two students whose names were pulled from a hat to be entered into the statewide drawing for a bike are Violet and Dominic! Good luck to Violet and Dominic!
This year during National Red Ribbon Week and Bully Prevention month we are hosting "Paws"itive Choices Week! Flyers will be going home soon! We can't wait to bring awareness to positive choices and have a lot of fun! If you have any questions please email Mrs. McDunnah at amcdunnah@milfordsd.org.
The boys took a hard loss against Center Drive last night, losing the game 3-1. Another fiery performance from Landon M kept the opponent at bay. Jaxen M and Joe L put on a show, with Jaxen scoring a goal in his first ever game as a Milford Wildcat. The future is bright for our boys soccer team. Come see them play in their last home game tonight at 3:30 against Holbrook.
The Lady Wildcats played hard last night against a much more experienced Orrington team and try as they might, they just couldn't get one in the net. While they may have lost the game, they never stopped trying and played their hardest until the game was over. The Ladies play their last regular season game tonight at home, girls play second, come cheer us on! Go Wildcats!!
Mrs. Weissman's class has been working hard to build their reading stamina! The students are so excited to share their accomplishment! The entire class is now able to read for 20 minutes without getting tired or giving up!
Photo day is Friday, October 13th!
Cross country update:
The cross country team competed at Bangor Christian School yesterday. Despite the heat, they all gave it their best. Charles L, Stephen M, Joe L, & Madison N each won a ribbon at yesterday's meet. All of them deserve praise for their great work, especially since this was both Madison and Joe's first meet of the entire season. Well done guys!! You have so much to be proud of! Practice is today from 2:30 to 3:30. Please meet at the basketball court.
Girls soccer update:
It was a HOT Tuesday night in Glenburn and the lady wildcats played hard the entire game losing 6-2. Goals were scored by Kylie D and Sofia S. The ladies are in action again tonight at home playing against Center Drive, come cheer us on at 3:30!!
