Our girls' basketball team hosted Glenburn on Friday.

Despite a loss, our B team played their best game yet. They scored the most points they have all season and played much better as a team. Baskets were made by Sophia and Paisley, but lots of assists were made by many players on the team. Keep working together and protect that ball tonight!

The A team struggled to stop some outside shooting and got tossed around by aggressive opponents. Having to battle their way through some rough adversaries, they still put up a good fight right up until the end. Karlee, Paisley, Kylie, and Ava added points to the scoreboard. Good luck against the same team tonight!

The Lady Wildcats traveled to Wagner on Tuesday night for their second game of the week.

The B team struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, but put some points up on the board in the second half from Paige, Sophia, and Kaelyn.

The A team was triumphant in their game on Tuesday night, emerging victorious in a close battle against their opponents. With a strong defense leading in steals, they were able to pull ahead of their opponents after being down by nearly 10 in the first quarter. They finally found their stride on offense and won their game 28-25 despite some challenges out of their control. Baskets were scored by Paisley, Kylie, Ava, Maddie, and Lily! Great job, team.

Yesterday afternoon the Milford Chess Team traveled to Bucksport for our second meet of the season. Bucksport ran with the home field advantage, snowballing an early lead into a decisive victory. Despite that, our Milford Wildcats demonstrated clear improvement in their play and strong fundamentals - with more time, practice, and refinement we are sure to see more wins in our future. The final score was Milford - 5, Bucksport - 55.

We’re looking forward to hosting Wagner Middle School this afternoon, and we’re ready to bring the competition. Keep at it, Wildcats!

Both girls' A and B teams hosted Bucksport at home last night. Unfortunately, both teams came up a bit short after the long break. For the A team, baskets were scored by Ava, Paisley, Kylie, and Maddie, while the whole team had some great efforts on defense. For the B team, baskets were made by Sophia and Kaelyn, while Maggie and several others displayed some excellent defense. The best thing about these Lady Wildcats is that they remain cheerful despite their losses. Keep playing hard, Ladies!

Our 7th graders recently participated in a hands-on DNA extraction lab using materials and equipment generously provided by Jackson Laboratories. In this activity, students explored the structure and purpose of DNA and learned how scientists isolate genetic material from living cells. Using their own saliva samples, students followed a step-by-step protocol to break open cells and separate cellular components in preparation for further genetic analysis.

With the support of the Jackson Labs kits—including collection tubes, extraction buffer, pipettes, filters, and other processing materials—students practiced authentic laboratory techniques such as measuring, observing chemical changes, and documenting their procedures. The extracted DNA will be used in a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) demonstration, allowing students to see how genetic material can be amplified and studied in real-world biotechnology settings.
