Hello,

As the new music teacher, I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Michael Cushman, and I am a retired Music and Technology teacher. I got bored a month after I retired, so I went back to teaching Music due to the shortage of music teachers in our area. I play several instruments and play for groups in the Bangor area (Percussion & Saxophone for the Bangor Band, and Organ for the Bangor Symphony), as well as a couple of churches.

We have already started rehearsals for some of our music groups this year, which include Chorus, Band, and Strings. The Stage Crew will be instructed in the duties of a Stage Manager before, during, and after concerts.

Students in the Elementary grades will be learning to play Recorders (4th Grade), Tone Chimes (3rd & 2nd Grades), as well as playing instruments and singing in the lower grades.

This year we will be having four concerts: One Elementary (PK-3) and one Middle School (4th–8th) concert in December, followed by one Elementary (PK-3) and one Middle School (4th–8th) in late May or early June (dates TBD). By separating the concerts, we hope to have enough space available for everyone to attend and have a seat. It will also keep the concerts a bit shorter for the younger students.

Rehearsal Times:

Band Sectionals–12:30-12:45 & 12:45-1:30 Mondays & Fridays

Band Rehearsals–1:30-2:15 Tuesdays & Fridays

Chorus–1:30-2:15 Mondays & Thursdays

Strings—1:30-2:15 Wednesdays

Stage Crew will meet as required

Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to working with your children this year in Music!
